This past weekend started a brand new series of Virtual Grand Prix, after the postpone of all the races because of the recent outbreak of Coronavirus.

“We are very pleased to be able to bring some light relief in the form of the F1 Esports Virtual GP, in these unpredictable times, as we hope to entertain fans missing the regular sporting action. With every major sports league in the world unable to compete, it is a great time to highlight the benefits of esports and the incredible skill that’s on show.”” – Says Julian Tan, Head of Digital Business Initiatives and Esports

These races were created to give Formula 1 fans some action to watch since the F1 calendar was impacted.

The series are going to be played with the official F1 2019 PC video game, developed by Codemasters. The game can be configured as the driver wants, including equal car performance, reduced vehicle damage or optional anti-lock brakes and traction control.

The no-holds-barred, 14 lap race was won by Formula 2 racer Guanyu Zhou. The next Virtual Grand Prix will be on April 5th when the drivers will be racing around the Australian Grand Prix circuit in Melbourne.
