Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad - Welterweight

Leon Edwards

Leon Edwards is a Jamaican fighter who is 29 years old and is currently number 3 in the welterweight ranking. Having started professionally in MMA in 2011, he has 21 matches in his cartel, having emerged victorious in 18 opportunities.

Of their triumphs, 9 were by decision, 6 by knockout and 3 by submission. As for the 3 losses he suffered, one was by disqualification and the other two were by decision.

Even though he was Jamaican, Leon Edwards grew up in Birmigham, England, going through events like Fight UK MMA and SAH, before going to another British organization, BAMMA. In that same organization, he was a welterweight champion and successfully defended his belt.

After that, the Jamaican went to the UFC, where he debuted in 2014 and with a defeat, against the Brazilian Cláudio Silva, by split decision. The following year, he defeated the American Seth Baczynski by knockout, being considered the second fastest knockout in the history of the welterweight. However, still in 2015, he was defeated by Kamaru Usman, by unanimous decision, adding 2 triumphs and 2 defeats by the UFC.

In the sport things change quickly, and that was how it was with Edwards, now he comes from an unbeaten record of 8 consecutive victories, placing himself among the big names in his category. In his most recent match, which took place in July 2019, he beat the Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision, in that night's main match.

Now, the Jamaican is back and should go all out to add another triumph to his cartel.

Belal Muhammad

Belal Muhammad is an American fighter who is 32 years old and is currently number 13 in the UFC welterweight ranking. Having started professionally in MMA in 2012, he has 21 fights in his cartel, having won 18 times and having suffered 3 losses, the same retrospect as his opponent of the night in question.

Of all his victories, 13 were by decision, 4 by knockout and one by submission. The defeats, on the other hand, were two by decision and one by knockout.

Before joining Dana White's organization, he went through events like the Hoosier Fight Club, Bellator and Titan FC. In the last event mentioned, he became the champion, winning the welterweight belt.

His debut in the UFC, however, happened only in 2016, when he was defeated by the North American Alan Jouban, by unanimous decision.

In the same year, he fought two more times, being defeated by Augusto Montaño by technical knockout and later being defeated by knockout by the Brazilian Vicente Luque, at UFC 205.

Between the years 2017 and 2018, he only added positive results, until he was defeated again in 2019, when he was beaten by Geoff Neal by unanimous decision of the judges. Subsequently, he recovered and accumulated two consecutive victories in the same year, against Curtis Millender and Takashi Sato, by decision and submission, respectively.

In June 2020, Belal Muhammad beat Lyman Good by unanimous decision. In his most recent fight he won another triumph, this time against Brazilian Dhiego Lima, at UFC 258.

Aiming to improve his position in the ranking of the welterweight, Muhammad must now enter focused in search of the fourth consecutive victory.

UFC Betting

Even though Edward may suffer a little from the lack of rhythm, from going too long without a fight, he still retains the favoritism for this fight. He is seen as a more complete fighter and maintains a greater regularity. For this reason, Bet365 has an odd worth @ 1.36 for the Jamaican's triumph.

For the North American's triumph, it is possible to find an odd worth @ 3.25.
