Born in Los Angeles, California, USA, on March 7, 1973, David Oppenheim is a poker pro who was known for his precociousness with poker and for becoming successful at it. In his history, Oppenheim began studying and playing at the poker tables at age 16, and that attitude led him to drop out of college to become a pro at age 19. Therefore, the player became very successful at the live poker tables very quickly, and was even inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame because of that.

Life

Early in his life, Oppenheim grew up in California and got into poker at an early age, as his parents used to play for extra income on top of his salary. Having said that, Oppenheim ended up falling in love with cards and decided to delve into the sport at an early age.

So at age 16, Oppenheim was already playing at live poker tables, mainly at the Bicycle Card Club, where he ended up causing trouble with the security guards by always presenting a false ID to hide his real age. At the time, Oppenheim had no plans to make poker his main profession, and as a result, the player ended up joining Cal State Northridge College.
 
However, through his studies, David used to play at $10 or $20 Limit Hold'em tables to get some cash. Thus, Oppenheim quickly realized that poker was his way to go.
 
It's worth mentioning that in just his first year of college, Oppenheim had already made $45,000 playing poker. And so Oppenheim decided it was time to join higher value tables, starting to play in buy-ins from $200 to $400. After that, at age 19, David ended up dropping out of college to dedicate himself 100% to the game of poker.
 
That said, at age 20, Oppenheim had already joined the list of elite players in the poker world, but he hadn't yet played in an event at the World Series of Poker.

World Series of Poker

To make history for good, Oppenheim participated in the 2003 World Series of Poker, and ended up on the podium with the bronze medal plus the sum of $100,000. However, the player failed to earn his first World Series of Poker bracelet.
 
In 2010, David Oppenheim participated in the WSOP's $50,000 edition of The Players Championship Event and ended up in third place, taking the sum of $603,348. In addition, it is worth mentioning that Oppenheim was present at the edition of the U$50K Poker Players Championship in the years 2012 and 2019, where he ended up earning the sum of US$142,197 and US$124,410 for the ninth and seventh place, respectively.

Other events

Among other events, David Oppenheim did well in the edition of the $5,150 NLHE Champions event within the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open, where he won $117,500 for third place. In addition, the American also participated in the NBC National Heads-Up Champions, in 2009 and 2011, where he secured the amount of US$ 75,000 in the two years by finishing in fifth and eighth position, respectively.

Fortune

In 2021, it was found that David Oppenheim had amassed a fortune of over $2 million. However, it is worth mentioning that in one of the games played by David, the American lost more than US$ 1 million in his risky plays, however, the player still has a large accumulated fortune in his bankroll.
