An agreement reached by Coljuegos, the Colombian regulator, together with the Ministry of IT and Communications, will aim to trace, protect and block the irregularities found. Thus, this agreement will protect online gaming operators in Colombia.

The protection of online gaming operators licensed in the country will prevent losses, is what the president of Coljuegos, Juan Pérez Hidalgo, says: "We will track illegal domains, some of them located abroad, to block them and prevent them from harming our local industry.

The agreement will be between Coljuegos, officials from the Ministry of IT and Communications and officials from the Colombian Federation of Gaming Entrepreneurs. This agreement will protect online gaming operators in Colombia, those that are licensed.

New working methods will be introduced to block illegalities and create new legal practices in the world of online gaming. In addition, Pérez Hidalgo has the idea to implement punishments relevant to illegal gaming sites, which are required to always do their operations in compliance.

"We will track these domains, some of them located abroad, to block them and prevent them from harming our local industry" - reiterates Hidalgo.

So far, according to information from Coljuegos, 4,131 illegal websites have been blocked. The new measures will be implemented in order to make access to illegal foreign sites in Colombia even more difficult.
